When I started writing this blog, a few weeks ago, I hit upon the–I thought–clever device of signing each post: “Larry F. Sommers, Your New Favorite Author.” A branding ploy, if you will; a not-so-subliminal attempt to influence your subconscious mind.
But it has occurred to me that it may be merely an irritating affectation. Maybe it annoys you, rather than endearing me to you.
So, what do you think: Should I keep it, or give it the deep six? Please discuss.

I think it’s fine – it seems to me what you are saying is that you want to be the reader’s new favorite author, not that you are assuming to be.

When I have to ask someone for help a lot, or to answer many questions, I often refer to myself as “your favorite pest.” It’s a wink and a nod kind of thing. “Your favorite new author” doesn’t bother me a bit.

Larry, when I read “Your New Favorite Author” it brought a smile to my face. I love a writer bold enough to claim he can be my new favorite author–especially since I already know and like him. : )
